After Kalikstus was tossed off of his horse, Hayalet, and historically has been maimed by this horse in various ways, Jeska has decided that Kalikstus is over-horsed and should borrow her horse, Sulhazzi. Known for her gentler nature and patience with timid riders, Sulhazzi would be the perfect horse to do some simple schooling and rebuild his confidence and riding skills with. Meanwhile, she would ride Hayalet and see if she could find a way to temper his aggressive nature to something a little more manageable. In Jeska's mind, the best way for horse and rider to bond and find confidence in one another, was for both of them try their hand at tackling difficult terrain together. For horses who tend to be stubborn or resistant towards their rider, the challenge of natural obstacles and changing terrain tended to give horse and rider a common enemy to confront together and distract them from their own differences and opinions. With every obstacle successfully navigated, the two would theoretically come to understand how to work together while also staying out of each other's way, and would further bolster their trust in one another. As such, Jeska's found some deer-trails and unkempt foot trails perfect for a beginner's cross country course. Old stone walls, broken down gates, fallen trees, sunken roads, and the occasional drop into a dry-creek provided the perfect questions that only horse and rider could answer together, and why not make a day out of it and invite our friends? ---

Setting: The forest outside of Evermire. Nothing too strange is happening in the woods today, for once.

Weather: Chilly, with a breeze. In the morning, it's sunny, but in the afternoon it gets a little cloudy, but not dark. The trees are bare and it's wintertime.

Goal: Depict your horse and rider navigating Jeska's course! This is a fairly open event in terms of what you can depict. Some example options could be including but not limited to:

• depicting horse and rider galloping, cantering, trotting, or even walking the course
• getting spooked on the trail by deer or turkeys
• jumping an obstacle (well, or badly!) - there are logs, fences, stone walls, a sunken road, dry and wet creek banks, and hedges to jump!
• racing another participant for fun
• balking at some water in a creek or jumping down a bank into water

--- Cross-Country IRL is a timed event where a horse and rider pair follow a marked course, one at a time. Courses are usually taken at a gallop, but since this is a schooling event, there is no enforced time limit. Therefore, horses can walk, trot, canter, or gallop the course. (Though jumps require the horse to be at a canter. You can take a jump from a trot, but the chances of your rider exiting the saddle are high. RIP) Multiple horse and rider combos can ride at the same time and complete the course together as well. Even though this is a schooling/training event and not a show, characters are welcome to get competitive with one another for fun! Cross country tests not only a horse's speed and jumping ability, but also their stamina if they canter or gallop the whole course. Cross country obstacles like the "sunken road" obstacle, as well as other types of obstacles in close proximity to one another (called "Combinations") can also test a horse's gait, as their stride length is adjusted quickly and on the fly, and the horse must have good balance throughout his body to do so. (And the rider must regulate this while staying balanced themselves!) Riding up hills and jumping up banks is also a great way to power up a horse's strength. Therefore, experience from this event can go towards any stat of your choice! (You can also pick two to split the EXP between.)

Come one and all to the Oasis Invitational! Raiding Season is upon us and as tradition dictates, the tribes of the Plains have begun their annual struggle for resources. Contrary to what those outside of the Plains may think, Raiding Season isn't just about theft, survival, and violence: It's about tribal pride and competition. After returning home, Hayti Talchik of the Oasis Clan Torwyn has offered a new form of competition for the tribes of the Plains to participate in. For one week, the Oasis will host an Eventing Invitational of horse sports and invites up to three riders per tribe to participate. The participants will be hosted in a newly built yurt village on the outskirts of the Oasis on Torwyn territory and all horses will be offered a place in the Torwyn grazing pasture. Quick Details
